I am really excited about the upcoming year. I am sure it will be a good one. I hope you all had a fantastic summer. The following is a brief description of the units that we will be studying this year, time permitting.
First Unit Title: Bubble Festival This unit will be explored with the Kindergarten and first grades! ACE students will conduct experiments using math, chemistry, and physics with the younger children. The purpose of the unit is to encourage exploration in the sciences. It will be an extension of the Bubble-ology unit explored in 3rd grade.
Second Unit Title: Coding Knowing how to code is so important in today’s world. In this unit, students will be introduced to computer programming by creating programs to solve problems and develop interactive games or stories they can share.
Third Unit Title: Stop-Motion Animation This unit explores the process of stop-motion animation. Students will develop a basic story, write a storyboard, design the setting, take pictures, edit the pictures, and produce a movie using digital technology.
Creative thinking, logic, creative writing, and other activities involving the use of higher order thinking skills will be interspersed throughout the year.
Supplies that your child will need are the following:
A three-ring binder
Dividers
Loose leaf paper
Pencils
Small flash drive
If possible, a $5-$10 donation would be greatly appreciated.
Other supplies may be needed throughout the year. I will let you know if the need arises.
